First off, I love China Black teas, but I am not an expert on teas or the language for describing them
For the last 20 years I have been purchasing Lion Mountain Keemun from Peetīs Coffee and Tea. In 2014 Peetīs stopped carrying this tea. I rushed out and bought as many tins of it as I could from all the local Peetīs retailerīs. Since my stash of this tea is running low, I decided itīs time to start testing similarly priced Keemuns. The "1979 Series Keemun Black Tea" is the first I have tried and I kinda wish I had tried it 20 years ago!
This tea has everything I love about my Peets version. Aromatic, dark, malty and perfect with cream and sugar. Whatīs really wonderful is that it does not have what I dislike in the Peetīs version. This tea less acidic or perhaps better to say the taste of oak-like tannins is less making it smoother and better balanced than what I have been accustomed to.
This tea carrier a caffeine kick and and coupled with cream and sugar keeps reminds me why I now prefer tea over coffee.
A very nice keemun black tea with a subtle sweet aroma. The packing is as well very enjoyable and of good quality becoming for such a tea. This will make really a nice gift to any Keemun black tea lover.
